Retainer
Their goal is to stabilize the result. For the upper teeth, most of the time we use a removable retainer that we recommend to put every night during 6 months and 1 night out of 2 the next 6 months.
For the lower teeth, we bond a wire behind the teeth, from the left canine to the right canine ; this wire does not need any adjustement and the patient forgets it quickly. We recommend to keep it until the eruption or the extraction of the wisdom teeth.
Sometimes, a wire can also be bonded behind the upper teeth (adult treatment) or a retainer where both upper and lower teeth set is given to the patient who put it 4 hours a day (tooth-positioner).
