INTERCEPTIVE TREATMENT
Interceptive appliances, are used when baby teeth and permanent teeth are both in the mouth, on average around age 9.
The goal is to make an early correction of a disocclusion ,to prevent its aggravation and to decrease the treatment time with braces.
In most cases, interceptive appliances are used for 1 semester. They can be fixed or removable.
Some examples :

We use it to correct a cross-bite between the upper and lower incisors : a progressive activation of the spring located behind the upper incisors (every 5 weeks) will put the upper teeth in a correct position.
This device is only used during after-school hours and the night.

palatal expander
This is a fixed appliance which works in the transversal direction to correct a narrow palate.
We give a key to the parents to activate the device every evening, a painless and easy act, usually they have to do this for one month and the device remains one semester. We see the patient every 5 weeks.
Monobloc :

Monobloc :
Removable device with two parts, one is put between upper and lower teeth, the other is an headgear.
This appliance often impresses parents but it is very well accepted by patients who wear it during after-school hours and the night.
The goal is to correct a retro-position of the mandible by stimulating the growth, treatment time takes 6 to 12 months and results can be really amazing if the patient puts it regularly.
